Lyrics

When I was five, I don’t think that I had a Christmas wish at all
But I was happy with a fire truck and a big round rubber ball
Tinker Toys and Lincoln Logs were left beneath the tree
But seeing all my family was the greatest gift for me.

When I was ten, my Christmas wish was for a brand new bike
And do you know what?
I got one - and my brother got a trike
I remember that my dad and grandpa taught me how to ride
While Mom and Grandma cooked a special Christmas feast inside

This year I only have one Christmas wish to name
But I’m afraid the this one won’t come true
But I’ll keep on hoping and praying just the same
I wish I could spend Christmas with you

My greatest Christmas wish at fifteen was a new guitar
But Mom and Dad said it was not to be
I could not believe my eyes when I woke up on Christmas morn
To find a new electric guitar upon the wall beside our Christmas tree

This year I only have one Christmas wish to name
But I’m afraid the this one won’t come true
But I’ll keep on hoping and praying just the same
I wish I could spend Christmas with you

Childhood Christmas wishes have a special kind of magic
And how I really wish that it could be
That I could have a little bit of magic once again
So I’d wake up on Christmas morn and you’d be here with me

This year I only have one Christmas wish to name
But I’m afraid the this one won’t come true
But I’ll keep on hoping and praying just the same
I wish I could spend Christmas with you

But I’ll keep on hoping and praying just the same
I wish I could spend Christmas with you
