Lyrics

It was ten year class reunion
And I was there to reconnect
With all the guys and girls who were now men and women
The jocks, the preppies, stoners all in retrospect
Everybody asked about the ones who weren’t there
At least the ones they could recall
They asked about everyone they might have loved or hated
But I noticed that no one at all ever asked about Judy

No one asked what she’d been doing
No one asked where she had gone
No one asked about all the dough she might have made
Or why she’d changed her hair from short to long
No one asked about the love she might have found
Or all the schools that she’d gone to
It’s sad but true:
Nobody asked about Judy.

She was the quiet one
She always kept things to herself
And no one knew her hopes and fears
And all the time I knew her - swear she never said a word
Though we walked the same halls for four damn years
She always sat in this corner of the quad day after day
There was a sadness in her eyes
And ten years later I’m standing in a bar downtown
And wondering why no one asked about Judy

As the years go by I always wonder why I never tried to be her friend
I never told her “hi” when she passed me by in the halls everyday
And when I saw her crying after school that one day all alone and scared
I didn't put my arms around her so she’d know that someone cared.

No one asked what she’d been doing
No one asked where she had gone
No one asked about all the dough she might have made
Or why she’d changed her hair from short to long
No one asked about the love she might have found
Or all the schools that she’d gone to
It’s sad but true:
Nobody asked about Judy.
